Census bureau is offering virtual data awareness sessions. This 50 minute session will teach users how to navigate all the tools in the census dashboard for grant writing or other uses. 2020 State population counts will not be ready until later in the month. City, County, and other municipalities data will not be ready until Sept/Oct.

Plugging along to see if we can get the Lathrop property cleaned up and rented. Youth Advisory Committee is planning events for the kids monthly. They will be working in community gardens next week. Water project moving forward hoping to have done in May. Pot holes started to have filled in this month. CDOT installing ADA ramps all the way through August. Economic development projects coming soon with DOLA and Carlton.

Join the Grief support circle either in person or via Zoom. Joining information is at the bottom of the flyer. Additionally on the 4th Thursday of the month a group will discuss death more broadly.

Sandy is also working on a conscious aging project. Looking at how to use our seniors better/ integrating them better into our community. Reach out if you want to learn more.

Leading Edge class will support those wanting to start a business. They will have a working business plan to apply for loans. Cybersecurity, marketing, lending, etc. $150

The county is working on their strategic plan. We are open for business. Appointments are preferred for many offices but you are welcome into the building. Building and Land use are now on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse. The county will be closed at noon tomorrow for Good Friday.

Sound the alarm program starting in SouthEast Colorado. Free smoke alarms to those who register.

Strategic economic development plan for all the counties. April 15th 2-4, Walsenburg Community Center or via zoom. April 28th 6-8, Walsenburg Community Center or via Zoom. SWOT analysis, give everyone a chance to say what they see as a strength or weakness. Forms are attached. Zoom links coming soon.

Looking forward to a normal schedule. Youth Art workshop July 5-9.. $25 deposit, you get back if you attend all 5 sessions.

LV School student art show will be April 6th-17th. The art will be for sale.

Planning art in the park- info on website. Encourage local craft people to consider signing up. Feeling confident they’ll be able to hold the event.

Gallery hours now Tuesday and Thursday 11-2, Saturday 10-2.


Lois Adams, Cuchara Mtn Park

Hired two contractors to work in the Park. Charity Gabel in charge of safety and outreach to the schools to bring kids up to the Park. Transportation to the Park is their current hurdle. Connor Orr in charge of the Huerfano Youth Conservation Corps. To be trained (and paid!!) in fire mitigation, trail building, etc. Need help getting the word out for good students to sign up. 16-17 year olds preferred. Still in school still working on their building. Nothing new just glad to be back in person.
